The three biological humors

Just like our DNA, we are made up of a certain combination of five elements which make up what is called our prakruti. Prakruti is the blend of the three Doshas or physiological energies within our body called Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Your unique balance which was determined at the point of conception will be explored through consultation and assessment and acknowledged in recommended therapies to bring you back to harmony and to your optimal health. Ayurveda is a sister side of yoga for healing the body, while yoga is the psychological side that heals the mind. By using both we find both balance and harmony as multi-dimensional beings who require a holistic way of living. Vata Dosha The Vata dosha is said to be made up of the air and ether elements. This means that it has qualities that are similar to these elements. Vata is like the wind, light, cool, dry, and mobile. In the body those, with Vata dosha tend to be light, with thin bones, dry skin and hair. They move and speak quickly and when out of balance can become depleted and the immune system compromised. Pitta Dosha The Pitta dosha is made of fire and water. The qualities of Pitta are hot, sharp, and penetrating. People with Pitta nature may tend to have somewhat oily skin, penetrating eyes, and sharp features. They tend to have moderate weight and good musculature. When out of balance they may be prone to loose stools, infections, and skin rashes. If Pitta excess is not managed it could cause problems in the liver, spleen, and blood. Kapha Dosha Kapha Dosha is made up of earth and water. Like these elements Kapha tends to be cool, stable, moist, and heavy. In the body these qualities manifest as dense, heavy bones, lustrous supple skin and hair, low metabolism, and large or stocky frames. When out of balance Kapha can gain weight easily, have weaknesses in their lungs, sinuses, and have an accumulation of mucous. They can also be prone to adult onset diabetes, an illness born in the water element.
